Tears of joy and sorrow

Yesterday, I had good news and bad news come to me. Luckily or unluckily the good news came first. Good news - a good friend of mine from college, Jules, got engaged. I am so happy for her. I met her fiance in the fall. He is a really great guy. They are a good match. Then, I looked through the mail and got a letter from the adoption agency. We have to do the home study update and file immigration papers again. I was just so upset. It seems as if it is never going to happen. I feel as if I am not meant to be a mother. Why is it taking so long? Is this some kind of sick joke? I can't take much more. Sorry such a downer of a blog today.

The Spoiled and Under-30 Crowd

My cousin sent this to me in an email. I found it absolutely hilarious. So I thought I would add it into my blog. Enjoy!

THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!! If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!! When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school ever y morn ing ... uphill BOTH ways yada, yada, yada ... And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good& nbsp; you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet . If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter .with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there! Ther e were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It co uld be your school, your mom, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister! We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! An d ther e were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just screwed! Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You cou ld only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little brats! And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a frigging fire .. imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot. That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980! Regards, The over 30 Crowd

Giants Win the Super Bowl!

Last night was undoubtly one of the best Super Bowl's I have watched. Okay aside from when the Steelers are in the Super Bowl and win (those are always great). When my team isn't in the Super Bowl, I don't really take sides. I sometimes hope that a great coach wins like Tony Dungy last year. Or I hope that a team that has never won a Super Bowl wins. If they don't, oh well. Last night, I really wanted the New York Giants to win. The Super Bowl was a nail biter to say the least. Usually, about half time I have had enough because there is already a clear winner. I never got up from my seat because the game was intense and I wanted to see the game and the commercials. I think the Giants played a great game. The defense of the Giants was incredible. I can't believe how they stopped Tom Brady and offense. The Giants offense did well and stepped up when they really needed. I was happy to see the Patriots dethroned. I think that they were overconfident in their winning the Super Bowl. They thought it was a forgone conclusion that they would win as if they were entitled to the win over other teams. Yeah to the Giants!!! Yeah to Eli Manning!!!

Exercise

On this Wear Red Day for Heart Disease Awareness, I just want to have my say about exercise. It is so important to take care of your health. One of the easiest is to exercise. I am living proof that exercise helps you even when your health is not in the best shape. I was in kidney failure and I made it a point to exercise. It kept me from going on dialysis. I did step aerobics. When I was too tired to do that. Jimmy would take me to the mall to walk. With exercise, I sweated out the toxins that my kidneys couldn't. If I hadn't done that I believe without a doubt that I would have been on dialysis much sooner. It doesn't have to be too strenous. My good friend Anne came to me at the beginning of the January and said she wanted to start walking early in the morning at school and would I do it with her. I was happy to oblige because hey any extra exercise can't hurt. So we walk for half an hour each morning and get to talk(side benefit with doing it with a friend). A couple of other friends and I started an aerobics club after school two nights a week. We bring our videos and we do aerobics, weights, and abs. I do it at home by myself a couple nights a week. So find something you like and do it for yourself, your family and your friends. There is nothing more important than keeping healthy.
